idea

The idea for this poster came to us while we were watching another Metallica show on their new circle stage, specially designed for the M72 tour. We wanted to capture a stadium full of raised hands.

artist

However, an idea is worthless without realization. After several weeks of meticulously searching for the right artist for this project, we came across Paweł Witiak. It seems he has drawn more hands in his life than there are on planet Earth. We immediately knew he was what we needed and reached out to him. Without Paweł, this poster wouldn’t have turned out the way it did.

searching

During the process of creating the poster, we tried various plot options, around 20! After choosing the most dramatic one, we continued refining the details.
Each step of this refinement is captured in Paweł’s sketches.

ink artwork

The artwork was drawn by hand, using pencil and ink, with the entire process on paper taking about 60 hours. We’re not even sure how many hands are there in the poster!

The art is done in the actual scale of the poster. This artwork is the one from which all the posters were created.
